Terms of Service
The short version. SamePage is a conversation tool for two adults who have agreed to use it together, with an account and a shared record.
- It is not therapy, counselling, or a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for a professional.
- What you write stays yours. How you talk never leaves your phone; what you confirm is stored and shared with your partner.
- Subscriptions are billed by Apple and renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple account settings.
- The app can get things wrong. Review what it produces before you confirm it.
1. This agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Grady Harwood, a sole proprietor based in New York, United States, trading as SamePage ("SamePage", "we", "us"). They cover the SamePage iOS app, this website, and everything we provide through them (the "Service").
By downloading, opening or using SamePage you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of this agreement.
2. Who can use SamePage
You must be 18 or older. By using the Service you confirm that you are, and that you have the authority to enter into this agreement.
Using the shared parts of SamePage requires an account, created with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or a one-time email code. You are responsible for keeping that account secure, for whatever sign-in method you choose, and for the accuracy of the name and photo you attach to it — your paired partner will see both.
You need a compatible device — currently an iPhone running iOS 26 or later, because the app's speech recognition and on-device processing depend on it. You are responsible for your own device, your own App Store account, and your own data charges. We may change the minimum supported device or operating system as the app develops.
3. What SamePage is
SamePage is a guided check-in ritual for two people. It walks both partners through a fixed agenda on a regular cadence, turns what you say into a structured record you confirm, and keeps that record as a shared timeline you can both look back on.
We may add, change or remove features, prompts, agendas and content. We will not remove something you have paid for, during the period you have paid for it, without offering a fair remedy.
SamePage is in alpha. During the alpha period the Service is provided to a limited group for testing. Expect bugs, expect changes, and keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
4. SamePage is not therapy
SamePage is a conversation tool, not a health service. It is not therapy, counselling, couples therapy, mediation, or medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. It is not a substitute for a qualified professional, and it is not a crisis service.
If you are in distress, or someone is at risk of harm, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line rather than this app. If your relationship involves abuse, coercion or fear, a shared, permanent record of your answers may not be safe for you; please seek specialist support instead of relying on this Service.
Prompts, questions and any suggested wording the app produces are generic content, not advice about your specific situation, and using them creates no professional relationship. What you decide to do with what comes up in a check-in is yours to decide.
5. Your account and your partner
You are responsible for your account, for the accuracy of what you enter, and for keeping your device and login secure. Tell us promptly at support.samepage@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to your account.
SamePage is built for two people sharing one record. When you invite a partner and they accept, or you accept an invitation, you and they become a couple in our system, and from that point:
- content either of you confirms into a shared check-in becomes visible to the other, and you cannot make them un-see it;
- some activities hold your partner's answer back from you until you have both answered, so that neither of you edits your answer to match theirs first — after that point, either of you can see it;
- your name and profile photo, and the shared timeline of sessions you have completed, are visible to your partner;
- deleting your account removes you from the couple and stops future sharing, but does not erase content your partner also holds a copy of, because you each contributed to it (see the Privacy Policy for how to ask us to remove your specific contributions by hand);
- you must have your partner's agreement before entering information about them, and before inviting them at all.
Do not invite someone to pair with you who has not agreed to it.
6. Subscriptions and payment
Where you pay. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and billed to your Apple account. Apple's terms govern the transaction itself, and we never see your card details.
What it costs. The current price and plan options are shown in the app before you buy. Prices may change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before a renewal at a new price.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
Cancelling. Cancel any time in your Apple account settings, under Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting your SamePage account — cancel with Apple directly.
Free trials. If a plan includes a free trial, cancel before it ends or it converts into a paid subscription at the price shown. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited if you buy earlier.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policy, not by us. Nothing here limits any statutory right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived, including cooling-off rights in the UK and EU and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
If you stop paying, you keep your history and you keep the free ritual. Your past check-ins stay exactly where they are, readable, in your shared record. You can keep running the free quarterly check-in on its normal cadence. What you lose is what the subscription adds: check-ins more often than quarterly, the milestone sessions, and the guided content. We do not lock your own words behind a paywall.
Promotional offers. We may offer discounts, credits or free access to individual couples. These are at our discretion, are personal to you, have no cash value, and can be withdrawn or varied for future periods.
7. Your content
You own what you write. Your check-in answers, notes, goals and values stay yours.
How you talk — your voice and the raw transcript of it — never leaves your phone; there is nothing for us to hold there. Once you review and confirm an answer, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transmit and display that confirmed content solely to operate the Service for you and your partner — to save it, sync it to your paired partner's device, back it up, and show it in your shared timeline. That licence ends when you delete the content, leave the couple, or delete your account, except for copies held in backups for the period set out in the Privacy Policy.
We do not use your check-in content to train AI models, to build marketing material, or to show anyone outside your couple. If you send us feedback, ideas or bug reports, we may use them freely and without obligation to you.
8. Our content
The app, its design, brand, prompts, agendas, written content, and the SamePage name and logo are owned by or licensed to us. You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use them for your own non-commercial use of the Service.
You may not copy, resell, sublicense, reverse-engineer, scrape, or build a competing product out of any part of the Service, or remove any proprietary notice from it.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use SamePage to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- harass, threaten, stalk, coerce or monitor another person, including a partner or ex-partner;
- enter another person's information without their agreement, or pair with someone who has not consented;
- impersonate anyone, including by signing up with a name, email or photo that is not yours;
- upload malware, or attack, probe, overload or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure;
- access the Service by automated means, or try to reach data belonging to other users;
- resell, rent or share access to a paid account beyond your own couple.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance or security, or because a third-party provider fails. We are not liable for downtime caused by something outside our reasonable control.
11. Ending this agreement
You may stop using SamePage at any time, delete the app, and delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing support.samepage@gmail.com. Deleting your account removes you from your couple and deletes your profile data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Cancel your subscription separately through Apple.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are legally required to, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service, or terminate you without cause, we will give you reasonable notice, a way to export any check-in history we hold, and a pro-rata refund of any period you have paid for and cannot use.
Sections 4, 7, 8 and 12 to 16 survive termination.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on and links to third parties — Apple, Google (if you use Google Sign-In), our database, hosting and email providers, and any site we link to. We are not responsible for their content, their terms, or their acts and omissions, and their terms apply to your use of them.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and any promise that the Service will meet your requirements or produce a particular outcome for your relationship.
In particular, we do not warrant that the app's transcription, or its extraction of your answers, will be accurate. Review what the app produces before you confirm it. The review step exists precisely because the machine can be wrong, and once you confirm an answer it is shared with your partner.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or under consumer law that cannot be waived.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data beyond restoring from our routine backups, or for any relationship, emotional or personal outcome arising from a conversation you had using the Service.
Our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and US$100.
15. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used the Service — for example because you entered another person's information without their agreement, or invited someone who had not consented — you agree to cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees to the extent the claim results from your breach of these terms. This does not apply where the law does not allow it.
16. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and the federal law of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in New York County, New York have exclusive jurisdiction, and you and we each consent to their personal jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident outside the United States, you keep the protection of your local mandatory law and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these terms. That is deliberate: you keep your right to go to court, including small-claims court, and to take part in a class action if one applies to you.
Please email support.samepage@gmail.com first. Nearly everything is faster to fix directly than through a court.
17. General
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands.
- Not enforcing a term once does not waive it.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the business is sold, without reducing your rights.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
- We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it.
